NANP-ASSIGNMENT OF 880 AND 881 NPAS FOR INBOUND FOREIGN BILLED CALLS TO TOLL-FREE NUMBERS

NPAs 880 and 881 introduced for international inbound toll-free services

Area codes 880 and 881 were introduced in 1996 for the provisioning of international inbound foreign-billed toll-free services within the NANP. These codes allowed callers in one NANP country to access toll-free numbers in another, with the caller billed for the international call and the receiver paying for the domestic leg.

Recovery of NPA Codes 880, 881, 882 (Paid Toll-Free Service) Scheduled for April 1, 2004

NPAs 880, 881, and 882 retired and returned to the pool of unassigned toll-free codes

Area codes 880, 881, and 882 were retired and their use for international inbound toll-free services was discontinued effective April 1, 2004. These codes were returned to the pool of unassigned toll-free area codes for potential future use.
